Making an appointment

Do I need a referral?

For medical conditions which can have laser and other treatments as part of their management, such as rosacea and hyperhidrosis, a referral is required from your general practitioner so that you can obtain a Medicare rebate for the consultation. More importantly the referral also ensures that your dermatologist can communicate with your primary care doctor about your problem.

However, for a cosmetic specific consultation for treatments such as anti-wrinkle injections, a referral is not required because Medicare rebates are not available in these situations according to government regulations.

What can I expect at my appointment?

At your initial consultation we aim to diagnose your skin condition and a treatment plan will be developed and discussed. It is important to remember that sometimes additional tests may be required to help with the diagnosis or management of your skin condition, and follow up appointments are often necessary.
