Basically, laser tattoo removal works by delivering short, powerful pulses of laser energy to the tattoo, which shatters the ink particles.
Lasers used in tattoo removal produce specific wavelengths of light which are absorbed by different pigments or colours in the tattoo. The light is selectively absorbed by the tattoo ink particles, which leaves the surrounding skin unharmed. When the laser energy is applied for the right length of time, at the right level of energy, and in the proper wavelength, the tattoo ink is selectively targeted.
Once treated, the body’s natural immune system then responds by flushing away shattered ink over the course of a few weeks or months – this will be when fading of the tattoo occurs. Over a course of treatments, more of the ink will be shattered and will leave the skin ink or tattoo free.
The Q- Switched Nd:Yag using wavelengths of both 1064nm and 532nm, is the only laser that has the ability to successfully remove or minimize dark and bright tattoos without the side effect of scarring. With pulses lasting only nanoseconds (billionths of a second) covering the area of ink, the amount of energy this laser produces causes the ink particles to shatter and are then absorbed by the body.
Laser treatment for removing tattoos is the gold standard and remains the safest, most effective process on the market today. Our Q-switched Nd:YAg laser uses wavelengths of both 1064nm and 532nm to achieve great results in removing that unwanted tattoo.
